Nashville, TN (October 31, 2008) ---- One of Christian music’s most beloved singer/songwriters, Andrew Peterson, is enjoying his highest chart debut with his latest project, Resurrection Letters, Volume II. The first week sales report places the CD in the top ten of the SoundScan Christian/Gospel Christian Retail chart and at #128 on Billboard magazine’s top 200 album chart for all formats. These numbers also mark the highest debut for Peterson’s label, Centricity Music.
“It’s so much fun to work with an artist who has pent up demand for a new project,” says Steve Ford, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Centricity Music. “Andrew’s fans have been waiting expectantly for the release of Resurrection Letters, Volume II and they went out in mass to buy the record. What we are finding is that fans and critics alike are responding to the depth and beauty revealed on this project.”
In support of the new album, Peterson embarked on a three-week release tour that covered close to five-thousand miles and eleven states. Peterson performed eighteen free shows at churches that were sponsored by Christian radio stations. Ross Grimes, Air Personality at WGNV in Wausau/Stevens Point, Wisconsin, sums up the impact that Peterson’s music had with the audiences.
“We loved having Andrew and Centricity Music during his recent release tour for Resurrection Letters, Volume II. Andrew provided a comfortable setting where hearts were opened to the incredible message of Resurrection and Renewal. Whether you had known Christ all your life, or were just walking into a church for the first time, Andrew was able to speak to everyone while keeping it light and fun! We’ve had many listeners call to tell us what a blessing the concert was.”
Resurrection Letters, Volume II was eagerly anticipated by fans, radio, and media before the release date of October 21st. Already great reviews have been raving about the new project. USA Today – “Don’t Give Up On Me” - Peterson asks for and offers back faithfulness, all to the accompaniment of deeply spiritual piano chords and a low guitar line that sounds like Duane Eddy playing a hymn. Lifeway.com - I didn’t think it was possible for Andrew to top his stunning independent release, “The Far Country.” Just goes to show how wrong a guy can be. “Resurrection Letters, Vol. II” may just be Andrew’s Magnus Opus. JesusFreakHideout.com - If every artist received the amount of recognition he deserved based on talent, Andrew Peterson would have shelves filled with awards.. Other reviews include; Billboard magazine, Worship Leader magazine, Christian Single magazine, ChristianMusicToday.com, Christian Retailing magazine, CCM.com, to name a few. Peterson has also appeared on Family Net TV’s “EveryDay With Marcus & Lisa, LeSea Broadcasting’s “Harvest Show,” “Atlanta Live,” Moody’s national radio shows, “Midday Connection” and Prime Time America, and Gospel Music Channel’s upcoming Christmas special.
Peterson began his career in 1996 touring cross-country with his wife, Jamie before being invited to be the opening act on Caedman’s Call’s tour in 1998. Peterson signed with his first label, Watershed/Essential records in 1999. His first CD, Carried Along made CCM magazine’s list of Top Ten albums of 2000 and the featured single, “Nothing To Say,” became a Top Ten radio hit. In 2004, Peterson received his first Dove nomination for “Family Man” for Country Recorded Song of the Year. Before signing with Centricity Music, Peterson released nine solo albums with four being independent, three on Watershed, and two on Fervent Records. Since 2004, Peterson has toured with several Nashville musicians and artists on his annual Christmas tour, Behold the Lamb of God: The True Tall Tale of the Coming of Christ. Peterson has also authored two books, The Ballad of Matthew's Begats and On the Edge of the Sea of Darkness. North! Or Be Eaten is expected to be released in the summer of 2009.
